Can I Inspect The Vehicle Before I Bid?
Yes, you can. And, checking over the any vehicle prior to bidding is definitely something you want to do. Although, you may or may not be able to hear the engine running, you can closely inspect the vehicles before the auction starts.
Here’s how it works… On the day of the auction, there’s generally what’s called an "Inspection Period." This period is usually held prior to the actual start of the auction, and lasts for one hour, maybe more. Sometimes, however… depending upon the auction, you could have an opportunity to inspect the vehicles the day before!
Here’s one tip that will surely save you time and money: If possible, you will want to find out the Lot Number of the vehicle(s) you are interested in before the auction begins. This way you won’t be standing and waiting, hours on end, for your vehicle to arrive in the queue. This will also lessen your chances of "missing" that prospective buy if you know roughly when and where it is being placed for bid.
Now, the above rules of thumb apply to On-site auctions only. Internet/On-line auctions are different. However, shopping On-line auctions does not necessarily mean you forfeit all of your options regarding inspection. It simply means you’ll need to educate yourself when it comes to individual Internet auction's terms of use before you bid.
