How Many Bidders Will I Be Competing Against At Auction?
Trying to assign an average number of bidders to any given auction is as incalculable as trying to guess the number of blue VW Bugs that will be seen at that auction. This number will always vary. It simply depends on the auction, the vehicle being bid on, your location, etc…
Some auctions draw hundreds of very active bidders, and other auctions are less attended, and/or less active. Providing that the auction in question has the types and quality of vehicles you’re looking for, you can get some of the best deals if the auction has few attendees… less competition.
Here’s one invaluable piece of advice if you’re fairly new to the vehicle auction game: Bottom-Line? Do Your Homework. Doing your research, and knowing your business will always prove to be a powerful bidding weapon at any auction, On-line or Public. Don’t make the all-too-common mistake of not knowing the worth of the vehicles at auction. This may be hard to believe, but many folks will bid higher on an auction vehicle than what they could have paid for that same vehicle in the classifieds!
One more tip… Always keep in mind that many, if not most, of public auction bidders are auto dealers. Don’t let this intimidate you, but motivate you. You’ll become more knowledgeable, experienced, and auction-confident, allowing you to beat those dealers at their own game!
